Akume Calls on NACCIMA to Support Tinubu’s Diversification Policies
Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has urged the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) to fully utilize the opportunities presented by President Bola Tinubu’s economic diversification policies to foster national advancement.
Akume made the call on Thursday in Abuja during a courtesy visit from the newly elected president of NACCIMA, engineer Jani Ibrahim, and members of the association’s executive council.
The SGF stated that the Tinubu administration is actively creating a business-kind surroundings and ensuring a level playing field for private sector involvement, emphasizing that organized bodies like NACCIMA should capitalize on this to strengthen Nigeria’s economic foundation.
According to a statement released by his Special Adviser on Public Affairs, Terrence Kuanum, Akume praised NACCIMA’s longstanding contributions to national development and encouraged the association to align its programs with the government’s diversification and industrialization goals.
“I wish to warmly welcome you to my office and also congratulate you on your election as the 26th president of NACCIMA,” Akume said. “As you are all aware, we have over-depended on proceeds from crude oil for decades, leaving out huge revenues from other sectors of our economy. This government is purposeful about economic diversification as the surest path to building a enduring system that will outlive us for generations yet unborn.”
Akume highlighted the administration’s focus on reducing Nigeria’s reliance on oil revenues by bolstering industries, agriculture, mining, and technology-driven sectors. He affirmed the government’s commitment to continued collaboration with organized private sector groups to achieve inclusive growth and a resilient economy.
In his remarks, NACCIMA President, Engr. Jani Ibrahim, thanked the SGF for his hospitality and pledged the association’s full support for President Tinubu’s ”Renewed Hope Agenda.”
“We have come to pledge our total support to President Tinubu through your office and to strengthen the bond of public-private partnership,” Ibrahim said. “We are leveraging on the Renewed Hope policy to achieve our projection of a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2031. Considering the centrality of your office in governance, we are convinced that partnering with you would make our task more feasible.”
Ibrahim further noted NACCIMA’s dedication to promoting entrepreneurship, industrial development, and sustainable business practices throughout Nigeria. He also announced the launch of an ambitious plan by NACCIMA to plant one billion trees nationwide, supporting the federal government’s green economy and environmental sustainability initiative.
founded in 1960, NACCIMA serves as the umbrella body for all chambers of commerce, industry, mines, and agriculture in Nigeria, playing a vital role in trade facilitation, industrial policy advocacy, and private sector participation in national economic growth.
