Red bull’s Yuki Tsunoda Detained Upon Arrival at U.S. Grand prix
AUSTIN, TX – Red Bull Racing driver Yuki Tsunoda was temporarily detained by U.S. immigration authorities upon arrival in Austin, Texas, ahead of teh United States Grand Prix, according to reports from japanese media outlet Enter Sports. This marks the second consecutive year the driver has faced immigration issues at a U.S. airport prior to a Formula 1 race.
Tsunoda experienced a similar delay in 2023, being held in an immigration review room and engaging in a dispute with an agent before ultimately being granted entry to the country. The repeated incidents come at a critical juncture for the Japanese driver, whose performance this season has been under scrutiny.
Currently, Tsunoda has accumulated 20 points in the 2024 Formula 1 season and has finished inside the top 10 in only two of the last eleven races. This downturn in results has fueled speculation regarding his future with Red Bull, particularly as French driver Isack Hadjar has made a positive impression with the team’s sister outfit, Racing Bulls. The nineteenth race of the Formula 1 calendar is scheduled to take place this weekend at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin.
