Apple’s New Homepad Expected to Launch in Spring 2026, Priced at $350
CUPERTINO, CA – Apple’s long-rumored smart home device, dubbed “Homepad,” is projected to launch in spring 2026 with a starting price of $350, according to a report from Bloomberg. The device, which has been in growth for approximately two years, aims to serve as a multimedia control center for smart home devices and media, going beyond the capabilities of existing homepod models.
Apple is reportedly planning two versions of the Homepad: a model codenamed “J490” resembling a HomePod mini with a touchscreen, and a tablet-like version, “J491,” designed to be mounted anywhere in the home. While the report doesn’t specify which model will carry the $350 price tag, sources suggest the J490 - the speaker-integrated version – will be the entry-level option.
This price point is higher than the current HomePod Mini ($99 USD / 99 Euro) and the second-generation HomePod ($299 USD / 349 Euro), but reflects the Homepad’s expanded functionality.Current HomePod devices primarily focus on audio playback and home hub control, relying heavily on Siri for operation. The Homepad’s touchscreen is intended to provide an additional control method, addressing limitations with Siri’s performance, especially with third-party streaming services.
the Homepad’s development has faced delays. Originally slated for release in March 2025, the launch was postponed due to delays in Apple’s overhaul of siri. The Homepad is designed to leverage the capabilities of the updated Siri, necessitating the revised timeline. Production of the device is shifting to Vietnam, rather than China, according to Bloomberg.
