Woman Undergoes accomplished Surgery to Remove 3-Kilo Tumor, Expresses relief: “Its Time For Him To Go”
Amsterdam, Netherlands – Kirsten, a Dutch woman, has successfully undergone a complex surgery to remove a large tumor she described as feeling “like a kind of pregnancy belly.” teh operation, performed by oncological surgeon Winan van Houdt, took hours of meticulous work, with the surgical team “fighting for every centimeter” to dislodge the growth, according to van Houdt.
The tumor, which weighed approximately 3 kilos (6.6 pounds), was located near KirstenS ovary, necessitating its removal as well after careful consideration with her husband, Leo. While the prospect of losing the ovary was a difficult blow - the couple had begun the year hoping to have a second child – Kirsten and Leo are focusing on gratitude for their daughter and maintaining hope for the future.
“It no longer feels like you can provide that safe haven for a child,” Kirsten shared, but added with persistent optimism, “I think I will be very happy if I come out of this well.” She powerfully stated her feelings about the tumor itself, declaring, “He’s hard and he’s in the way. It’s time for him to go.”
Surgeons routinely document these procedures, and Kirsten’s tumor was no exception.”Patients always really want to see it and frequently enough they want to have the photo,” explained van Houdt, highlighting the emotional significance of confronting the physical manifestation of their illness.
Kirsten is now recovering and resting, with a follow-up appointment scheduled to monitor her progress.
