Stephen Colbert is expanding his acting portfolio as his run as host of “The Late Show” nears it’s conclusion. The comedian will lend his voice to the upcoming Paramount+ series “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy,” portraying the Digital Dean of Students. This declaration comes as Colbert prepares to sign off from his late-night duties in 2024, after 28 years in late night, including 19 years hosting The Late Show.
Colbert’s involvement in “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” marks a continued relationship with paramount, the parent company of CBS, where “The Late Show” airs. Beyond the new series, he recently reunited with Amy Sedaris for an acting project. The news was revealed during New York ComicCon via a video message from Colbert, where he quipped, “Folks I’m sorry I couldn’t be in person with you today but I’m a perfectionist and I just didn’t have enough bunting for my Mugato costume.” He continued, “However nothing coudl stop me from sharing this exciting news. I am honored to announce that my beautiful voice will be joining ’Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ as the digital dean of students.”
“Star trek: Starfleet Academy” is slated to premiere on January 15, 2026.
