Ares‘ Opens To $60.5M Global Box office
Ares’ debut at teh global box office has yielded $60.5 million, with $45.5 million coming from north America and $15 million internationally, through Sunday. The film is currently playing in 63 overseas markets.
The strong opening for Ares’ signals continued audience interest in action thrillers and positions the film for potential success as it expands into further international territories, including China on October 17. The film’s performance is being closely watched by Worldwide/DreamWorks Animation, New Line/Warner bros, and Crunchyroll/Sony as they navigate a competitive fall movie season.
Elsewhere at the international box office,Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie added 11 markets this session,earning $7.2 million for a $19.5 million offshore cume and $46 million global total.
The Conjuring: Last Rites surpassed $300 million internationally, adding $5.8 million from 75 overseas markets this weekend, bringing its running international total to $300.6 million and its global total to $473 million. Japan is the final market for release, scheduled for October 17.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle has climbed to become the fifth highest-grossing worldwide release of the year with $648 million. In north America, the film reached $128.6 million, surpassing Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon to become the top-grossing international film of all time in the domestic marketplace. This frame,the film delivered $3.5 million overseas from 62 markets for a studio international cume of $336 million.
