Chicago, IL – Four protesters were arrested Friday during demonstrations outside a U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) facility in Broadview, Illinois, as ongoing protests against immigration policies escalated, according to reports. The arrests occurred amid a wave of demonstrations sparked by President Trump‘s recent immigration crackdown.
Two of the arrests stemmed from an incident involving Ray Collins and Jocelyn Robledo, who were initially charged with felonies after a Sept. 27 clash with ICE officers outside the same Broadview facility. those charges were dropped Thursday after a local grand jury declined to indict them.
During Friday’s protests, Debbie brockman, a video editor for WGN-TV, was detained by ICE officers in Lincoln Square. DHS alleges she assaulted a federal law enforcement officer.Video footage of the arrest shows Brockman being taken to the ground as onlookers record the scene. She was then placed in an unmarked minivan that reportedly struck another vehicle while leaving the area.
Additional protesters were arrested at the Broadview facility after crossing a police barrier, as documented by photographers on the scene.
