Ecuadorian TV Presenter Emilio Pérez Dies at 41 After Heart Attack Linked to Hormone Therapy
Guayaquil, Ecuador – Emilio Pérez, a popular television presenter in Ecuador, has died at the age of 41 following a heart attack, according to reports from The express and Daily Star. The presenter’s death has prompted warnings about the dangers of unregulated hormone use.
Pérez passed away in hospital after experiencing cardiac arrest. Specialists later steadfast that testosterone injections he was receiving had exacerbated pre-existing heart failure, Daily Star reported, citing NeedToKnow.
Ivanna, a source close to Pérez, explained that the method of management contributed to the complications. “The problem worsened because he injected the hormone into his arm and not his buttocks, due to the presence of biopolymers in that area,” she said. “His heart couldn’t hold up, and one of his lungs was also damaged. They gave him blood transfusions, but they turned into water. They tried to get the hormone out of his body, but they couldn’t.”
Pérez was known for his work as a television presenter and his openness about his identity as a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community in Guayaquil. Tributes poured in from colleagues and fans, describing him as “dedicated, cheerful and hardworking.” One tribute expressed hope for his repatriation to Venezuela to allow family and friends to say goodbye.
Regional news outlets reported that Pérez had previously discussed anxieties related to complications from cosmetic procedures, wich friends now believe may have led to his reliance on hormone therapy.
his death has spurred calls from medical professionals for individuals to seek professional guidance before beginning any hormone treatment. A hospital representative stated that a full medical investigation will be conducted to determine the precise cause of his cardiac arrest.
