NATO Responds to Russian Attacks with Heightened Air Defense,F-35 Deployment

Warsaw,poland ⁤- Polish and Allied air forces were placed on high​ alert early Monday morning following a large-scale Russian attack on Ukraine,specifically targeting the Lviv and Ivanofrankiv regions. The activation included the launch of Allied F-35 ⁤fighters as⁣ a preventative‌ measure to safeguard Polish airspace and protect citizens in areas bordering Ukraine.

According to a statement from the Polish Operational ⁣Command posted on X (formerly Twitter) shortly‍ after 4:00 AM local time, Polish and Allied aircraft were “intensively operating”⁢ and air defense systems and radar surveillance were at their “highest readiness.” ‍These steps were ⁣taken as a precaution, focused on securing airspace and civilian safety in potentially affected areas.

The Operational Command later announced, after 8:00 AM, that the ‍heightened alert had been⁤ lifted. Air defense systems⁤ and radar surveillance returned to standard operating procedures, with the involvement of Royal Air Force F-35 ⁣fighters. no intrusions into Polish airspace were reported during the operation.

This incident follows a similar breach in September, when over twenty Russian drones entered Polish airspace, which Polish leaders‌ characterized as a intentional⁣ attack. Sunday night’s Russian strikes on Ukraine, utilizing drones and missiles, resulted in at least four deaths in the Lviv region, according to Ukrainian news outlet Pravda.
