Facebook Fan Challenges & Custom Badges: How Creators Engage Fans

Facebook Launches Fan Challenges‌ & Custom Badges to Boost Creator Engagement

MENLO PARK, CA – September 29, 2025 – Facebook is rolling out new tools ‍designed to strengthen connections between⁢ creators and their fans, including interactive challenges and customizable badges. The features aim to increase engagement on the platform and offer creators‍ new ways to reward loyal followers.

These additions come as Facebook seeks to‍ become more creator-centric, a space currently dominated by Instagram, which recently surpassed ⁢3 billion monthly active users. The⁤ new tools allow creators to launch challenges – prompting fans⁣ to submit content ⁣based on a specific theme – and⁣ award participants with unique,creator-defined badges displayed next to their usernames. This moves beyond the standard “TOP FAN” ⁤badge, offering a more personalized experience.

Facebook suggests ⁣creators leverage challenges around timely themes; for example, cooking creators could invite fans to share pumpkin-themed recipes to celebrate autumn. Content creator callen Allen, with 3.6 million ‌Facebook followers, tested the feature with a challenge⁤ asking fans to share videos of their dreams and⁤ goals, receiving approximately 520 submissions.

According to Meta, over 1.5 million submissions have ⁢been⁤ made to these challenges in the last three months. ⁤creators can set a “Super Fan” badge, customizing ⁢the ‍title⁣ displayed alongside participating users’⁤ names – opting for “Sirio” instead of the‍ default “Ed Siron’s ⁤Super Fan,” for instance. Celebrities like Cardoby and J Balvin have already begun utilizing the custom badge feature.

The ⁢launch follows a ⁢recent incident where Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses experienced technical difficulties during a ‌live demonstration, initially attributed to Wi-Fi ⁣issues. This new focus on creator tools signals a strategic shift for ⁤Facebook as⁤ it works to enhance its appeal to content producers and foster ⁤a⁣ more⁢ vibrant community.
