Messenger Experiences Widespread Outage, Reports Spike on Downdetector
Users across France and potentially globally are reporting issues with Facebook Messenger as of Tuesday, September 29th. Downdetector, a platform tracking online service disruptions, registered a significant surge in user reports indicating problems with the messaging app. The outage began around 7:32 PM CEST and quickly escalated, leaving many unable to send or receive messages.
While the cause of the disruption remains unknown, the timing impacts a large user base reliant on Messenger for communication. Unlike other meta-owned platforms, Facebook and Threads, and WhatsApp, Messenger appears to be uniquely affected. Meta has not yet issued an official statement acknowledging the outage or providing an estimated time for resolution.
