Initial reports indicate the shooting occurred during a church service. Following the gunfire, a fire erupted within the building, complicating rescue efforts and contributing to the rising casualty count. Firefighters and paramedics swiftly arrived at the scene,battling the blaze and providing medical attention to the wounded.
“This sort of thing is painful for our entire community,” stated Grand Blanc Mayor John Creasey, reflecting the shared grief felt across the township and city, which despite being separate governmental units, function as a unified community.
Approximately 100 residents gathered Sunday evening at The River Church in Grand Blanc for a prayer service, offering solace and support. Pastor Chuck Lindsey lead the congregation in prayer, acknowledging the community’s exhaustion with ongoing violence. “We live in days that are difficult and troubled…but Lord, you are our refuge,” he said.
Injured individuals were transported to Henry Ford genesys Hospital for treatment.The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to determine the motive behind the shooting and identify the perpetrator.
