Massive Berlin Protest demands End to German Support for Israel‘s Gaza Campaign
Berlin, Germany – Over 100,000 people took to the streets of Berlin on Saturday, in a powerful presentation against German support for Israel’s military actions in Gaza. The rally,organized by a coalition of approximately 50 groups including pro-Palestinian organizations,Medico International,adn Amnesty International,centered on the demand to “Stop the genocide in Gaza.”
Protesters marched from Berlin City Hall to the Grosser Stern, carrying signs reading ”Freedom for Palestine,” “Never again for all,” and “Stop the genocide in Gaza,” while chanting slogans like “Free, free Palestine” and “Viva Palestine.” The demonstration reflects growing international concern over the escalating humanitarian crisis and mounting civilian casualties in the besieged Palestinian enclave.
Organizers issued a strong statement accusing the German government of “complicity” in what they describe as a genocidal war.They specifically called for an immediate cessation of all military cooperation with Israel, including the halting of arms exports, ammunition transfers, and the transit of military equipment.
“The Israeli government’s actions are under inquiry by the International Court of Justice for potential genocidal acts, and have been described as such by numerous experts and international organizations,” the organizers stated. “While mass atrocities are being committed in Gaza, the German government continues to deny systematic violence.”
Beyond ending military support, protesters demanded unrestricted access for humanitarian aid to Gaza and urged the European Union to impose sanctions on Israel.
Ines schwerdtner, chairwoman of the Left Party, addressed the crowd, echoing the accusations of genocide and criticizing the German government’s stance.
