Greta Gerwig’s ‘narnia‘ Adaptation Begins Filming with Star-Studded Cast

principal photography commenced on August 11 for Greta ‌Gerwig’s adaptation of C.S. ⁤LewisTeh Magician’s Nephew, marking a significant step in the highly anticipated reimagining of the classic fantasy novel. The film,a Netflix production slated⁤ for an ⁣IMAX release on Thanksgiving ⁤2026,boasts a ⁣cast including Daniel Craig,Carrie Mulligan,Emma Mackey,and Meryl Streep.

Gerwig’s take on The Magician’s Nephew is already generating buzz for it’s unique‌ approach⁤ and extraordinary ensemble. stuber confirmed to Variety in november that the film is⁣ “rooted in faith,”‍ a theme present in Gerwig’s previous work, such as Lady Bird and Barbie. The project represents a major investment by Netflix in bringing Lewis’s ⁢beloved world to a new generation, and signals a shift in the film’s setting to‌ the mid-1950s, diverging from the original Victorian era of the source material.

Daniel Craig will portray Andrew, while⁤ Carrie Mulligan will play Digory’s mother. Barbie and Sex Education star⁤ Emma Mackey secured the role of ⁢the White Witch, beating out competition ⁤from Margaret Qualley ‌and others, including Charli XCX, who was previously considered ⁣for the part. Perhaps most notably,‌ Meryl Streep will voice Aslan, the iconic lion.Casting for the leads, ‍Digory and Polly, remains unconfirmed.
