Greta Gerwig’s ‘narnia‘ Adaptation Begins Filming with Star-Studded Cast
principal photography commenced on August 11 for Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of C.S. Lewis‘ Teh Magician’s Nephew, marking a significant step in the highly anticipated reimagining of the classic fantasy novel. The film,a Netflix production slated for an IMAX release on Thanksgiving 2026,boasts a cast including Daniel Craig,Carrie Mulligan,Emma Mackey,and Meryl Streep.
Gerwig’s take on The Magician’s Nephew is already generating buzz for it’s unique approach and extraordinary ensemble. stuber confirmed to Variety in november that the film is “rooted in faith,” a theme present in Gerwig’s previous work, such as Lady Bird and Barbie. The project represents a major investment by Netflix in bringing Lewis’s beloved world to a new generation, and signals a shift in the film’s setting to the mid-1950s, diverging from the original Victorian era of the source material.
Daniel Craig will portray Andrew, while Carrie Mulligan will play Digory’s mother. Barbie and Sex Education star Emma Mackey secured the role of the White Witch, beating out competition from Margaret Qualley and others, including Charli XCX, who was previously considered for the part. Perhaps most notably, Meryl Streep will voice Aslan, the iconic lion.Casting for the leads, Digory and Polly, remains unconfirmed.
