Tusk Condemns Gaza Situation,Faults Hamas and Israel
Warsaw,Poland - Polish prime Minister donald tusk delivered a stark assessment of the situation in the Gaza Strip, criticizing both Hamas and Israel’s actions, and stating that “terrible things are happening.” Tusk reaffirmed his consistent support for Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorism, but unequivocally condemned the scale of civilian casualties in Gaza.
Tusk stated, “It has no description… We all no that the beginning of this conflict is the crime of Hamas on the civilian population of Israel. we know this. We know under what pressure from iran and some Arab countries and terrorists Israel has been functioning for many, many years. But what is happening in Gaza is absolutely unacceptable.”
He further emphasized the damage to Israel’s image, saying it “ruins the image and history of Israel’s efforts and the state of Israel.” Tusk asserted there is “no excuse for the killing of children, for the chant of the hunger of civilians,” while acknowledging Hamas’s responsibility, stating, “Hamas is responsible for weather it is co-responsible, yes – we know that. And this is still not an excuse for what Israel decided in Gaza itself.”
The criticism comes as the conflict enters its seventh month, with the Palestinian Ministry of Health reporting over 65,000 Palestinian deaths and more than 165,000 injuries resulting from Israel’s offensive launched after the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel, which killed approximately 1,200 people.
Aid organizations and media outlets are reporting a severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza, characterized by widespread hunger and mass displacement. Concerns are growing over the lack of safe zones, with even areas designated as “Humanitarian Zones” facing potential attacks.
The Israeli government maintains that Gaza serves as a stronghold for Hamas and that its capture is essential to dismantling the Palestinian terrorist organization. The offensive has drawn criticism from the UN, the European Union, and Great Britain, among others.
