Katy, Texas – A baseball coach was injured Sunday morning when gunfire erupted during a game at The Rac sports complex in Katy, according to Waller county EMS. The coach was struck by a stray bullet in the shoulder and has since been released from the hospital.
The shooting prompted immediate medical attention on-site before the coach was transported to a local hospital. Video circulating online shows players scrambling for safety as multiple shots rang out, with some athletes diving to the ground and others fleeing the field. The incident underscores growing concerns about safety at recreational sporting events and has led to a temporary suspension of all activities at The Rac.
Authorities have identified three persons of interest in connection with the shooting, which investigators believe stemmed from recreational shooting nearby.No arrests have been made as of this writing.
The Rac Katy has suspended all practices and games pending the completion of an internal examination.
