Saarbrücken, Germany – September 19, 2025 – Germany’s men’s 7-series rugby team brought support and camaraderie to the final day of the special Olympics Landespiele Saarland 2025, visiting the games during their training camp in Saarbrücken.
The team engaged with athletes at various “WBFA” (competitive offer) stations, including boot throwing and testing, participating with “energy and laughter.” Athletes warmly welcomed the rugby players, seeking conversation and capturing the encounters in photographs.
National player Chris Umeh shared his impressions: “It is indeed great that we have the chance to experience the Special Olympics saarland state games on site in 2025. It is indeed remarkable how much enthusiasm the athletes take part in the competitions and cheer each other.”
The team also participated in the Boccia award ceremony, congratulating athletes and presenting medals.

I am very pleased that the men’s 7-way team of rugby teams of the Special Olympics athletes from saarland are very happy with their visit to the 2025 state games. This is sport and that is lived inclusion.”
The “wolfpack,” as the German 7-Series Rugby national team is known, achieved a historic promotion to the world series (HSBC SVNS) in May 2025 and is currently preparing for upcoming international competitions at the Saar sports campus in Saarbrücken.
