MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) – A 32-year-old Duluth, Minnesota man is facing charges after allegedly filming under the skirts of graduates at ceremonies held at Mariucci Arena on June 1 and June 2. Authorities say Benjamin Thomas Goldsmith compromised the privacy of 144 victims.
Goldsmith is charged by warrant with three counts of possessing pornographic work and three counts of interfering with privacy. he was initially identified by witnesses at a graduation event on June 2,2024,who reported his suspicious behavior to police,fearing he may have been armed. Witnesses stated Goldsmith was avoiding metal detectors and getting uncomfortably close to female graduates, repeatedly touching something in his pocket.
Following his arrest, a concealed camera was discovered on goldsmith.Images and videos recovered from the device depicted scenes from graduation events at Mariucci Arena, including upskirt photos and videos. A subsequent search of Goldsmith’s vehicle, parked near the venue, revealed a hard drive containing 151 images and videos of child sexual abuse material, as well as programs from other high school graduations.
Investigators are currently working to determine if additional victims or locations are involved.
