Patriots Kick Off Lone Star Conference Play with 1-0 Victory Over UT permian Basin
ODESSA, TEXAS – The UT Tyler women’s soccer team began its Lone Star Conference campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 road win against UT Permian Basin on Wednesday evening. A second-half goal from junior forward Taylor Thibodeau proved to be the difference, extending the Patriots’ unbeaten streak to start the 2025 season and marking a 1-0 start to conference play.
The first half saw both teams battling for control, resulting in a tightly contested opening 45 minutes. UT Tyler managed to create three scoring opportunities, putting all shots on target, but the UT Permian Basin defense remained resilient, keeping the game scoreless heading into halftime.
The breakthrough came in the 67th minute, as Thibodeau found the back of the net, securing the victory for the Patriots.
