San Jose Shooting: City Employee Among Three Victims, Mayor Confirms
San Jose, CA - A City of San Jose employee working in the housing department is among the three people killed in a shooting on Tuesday, Mayor Matt Mahan revealed Wednesday. The tragic incident occurred on the 200 block of Chynoweth Avenue, leaving the community reeling and police actively pursuing a suspect.
According to reports, San Jose Police Department (SJPD) received calls of gunshots and a woman screaming for help just before 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday. First responders discovered one man and two women suffering from gunshot wounds. One woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man and the second woman were transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, but succumbed to their injuries shortly after.
“It’s heartbreaking,” Mayor Mahan stated, expressing his condolences to the victims’ families. ”One of the victims was actually a member of our city team,an employee in the housing department. We’ve been realy focused on supporting members of our team at the city.”
The identities of all three victims are being withheld pending notification of next of kin and will be released by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner, police stated.
Authorities are currently investigating the shooting and pursuing all available leads. Details remain scarce as the investigation is ongoing.
