Chicago Shootings: 19 Shot, 2 Dead Over Weekend

Chicago police reported‌ at least 19 people shot,two fatally,during weekend gun violence across the city. The shootings occurred between⁣ late Friday and Sunday, impacting ‌neighborhoods across Chicago’s Northwest and South Sides.

This weekend’s violence adds to a continuing pattern of gun-related incidents in Chicago, raising ⁣concerns about public safety and prompting‍ ongoing investigations by Area detectives. The incidents ⁢underscore ​the city’s struggle with gun violence and the⁤ impact on communities,⁤ as police work‌ to identify suspects and understand the motives behind the shootings.

Early Saturday morning, a 26-year-old woman was found shot ​to death ⁤in the 1700-block of North ⁤Kimball Avenue in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, ​near Logan Square, around 2:45 ⁢a.m. Police responding to a call found the woman ⁣unresponsive with a gunshot​ wound to the head. She⁣ was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital and pronounced‍ dead. No arrests ‌have been made, and Area Five detectives are investigating.

Later Saturday, a⁤ 17-year-old boy was ‍fatally shot in the Morgan Park neighborhood. The shooting occurred in the 11300-block of South carpenter Street⁤ around 7:15 p.m. The victim, identified by the Cook county Medical Examiner’s Office as Ian williams, was standing on the sidewalk‍ when someone in ⁣a blue sedan fired shots, striking him in the chest. He‍ was transported to Christ Hospital in‌ critical condition and pronounced dead. The driver ‌of the sedan fled northbound on Carpenter ⁣Street. One person is in custody, and Area Two detectives are​ investigating.
