All Out for the Final Red Jersey as Vuelta 2025 Reaches Decisive Mountain Stage

Robledo de Chavela, Spain – September 12, 2025 – The battle for the overall lead in ‍La Vuelta 25 will reach a ⁣fever pitch tomorrow, September 13th, ⁤on a grueling 165.6km (102.9 ⁣miles) mountain stage from Robledo de Chavela ⁣to Bola del Mundo. This penultimate stage is poised to ⁤be the last major opportunity for contenders to overhaul the general classification before the final ceremonial stage.

The stage features a punishing profile, including the only hors catégorie climb alongside the Angliru in ⁢this yearS race – the ‌Bola del Mundo – and four categorized ascents leading up to it. Riders will face two Category ⁤3 climbs within the first 26km, followed by the Category 2 Alto del León and the Category 1 Puerto de Navacerrada.‌

The decisive ‌ascent of Bola del Mundo will be tackled from a challenging direction, gaining ‍altitude with an average gradient of just under nine percent over 12.3 kilometers.⁣ This demanding climb is expected ⁤to be a pivotal point in determining the final standings.

“Final mountain⁣ stage⁣ of this edition,” stated Race Director Fernando Escartín. ⁤”The stage will be⁤ very winding,‍ with hardly any flat areas,⁣ and will bring back such‍ historic climbs as the⁢ Alto del ⁣León. An escape ⁤may happen from the first climb of‌ the day,at Escondida,in order to push the peloton‌ to its limits as they battle for a ‍stage victory.”

Escartín continued, “The Navacerrada ⁣mountain pass will be the star ‌of the day,⁤ first on its Segovian side with its ‘siete revueltas’ [seven tight curves] and then the final ‌climb from Becerril de la Sierra to bola del Mundo climb. The Guadarrama Mountain Range will crown⁢ the winner of ‍La Vuelta 25.”
