Tyler Robinson, the suspect in the shooting of right-wing commentator Charlie kirk in Utah, is a university student from a “very loving family” who was described by a neighbor as “very respectful and quiet.” The incident occurred on Thursday evening, prompting an examination that led to Robinson’s arrest and booking into the utah county jail in Spanish Fork on Friday evening. He has not yet been formally charged.
According to Utah Governor Spencer Cox, a family member alerted a family friend, who then contacted the Washington county sheriff’s office with information that Robinson had confessed to or implied involvement in the shooting. Robinson’s roommate also provided messages indicating he had left a rifle, matching the recovered weapon, near the scene.
Neighbor Kristin Schwiermann (66) stated Robinson “aced his acts and got a full ride at university,” characterizing him as “smart.”
Investigators discovered unfired bullet casings with various messages, some referencing online culture. One sequence – “Up arrow, right arrow, and three down arrow symbols” – appears to be a reference to a move in the video game Helldivers 2 that unleashes bombs. Another phrase, “Notices bulges OwO what’s this?” is described as trolling language originating in online role-play communities. Other messages included “Hey, fascist! Catch!” and “Bella ciao,” an Italian anti-fascist song.
