Ed Sheeran Releases New Album “Play” and Announces Temporary Relocation to the U.S.
British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has released his eighth studio album, “Play,” on Friday, September 12. The album features tracks including “Sapphire,” “Darling,” and “A Little More,” following his 2023 release, Autumn Variations.
The 34-year-old artist, who ranks as the 6th most streamed artist on Spotify with hits like 2017’s “Shape of You,” is also preparing for a world tour beginning December 1st in Paris. The tour will continue through Germany, the united Kingdom, and Ireland, with planned stops in New Zealand in early 2026 and Australia. Dates for the U.S. leg of the tour have not yet been announced.
Sheeran recently revealed plans to temporarily reside in the united States, citing the demands of touring. “I go on tour there for a moment. I have a family, I can’t go back and forth,” he explained on The 2 Johnnies podcast. He clarified on instagram that he doesn’t want to “shuttle between London and San Diego,” but also stated he will continue to pay his taxes in the United Kingdom, where he is based. “I feel like I am the only person to move to the United States,” he joked.
