Thirteen years after the tragic deaths of actress Mónica Spear and her father, Maya Berry Spear is using her voice to honor their memory and advocate for her mother’s homeland, Venezuela. In a recent video shared on her social media platforms, Maya spoke about the strength she inherited from her mother following the devastating loss.
The video comes as Maya dedicates her life to preserving the legacy of both her parents. She was legally adopted by her uncle, Ricardo Spear, and his partner, Daniela Bueno, two years ago. “I lost my mother in a tragedy that moved the world,” Maya recalled in the recording. “But I received from her the gift of her strength and light.” She added that she lives to honor their memory and demonstrate that “Esperanza can also be born from darkness.”
