Cremona, Italy – Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca⁢ played a key role in Jamie Vardy‘s surprising ⁣move to⁣ Serie A side Cremonese, personally recommending the club ‌to the veteran striker. Vardy, 37, joined Cremonese on a ⁣free transfer this summer after his contract with‍ Leicester City expired.

Maresca, who previously managed Leicester City, maintained contact⁤ with Vardy and ‌highlighted the⁣ appeal of Cremonese, both as a club and as a city.”I am still in touch with Maresca,” Vardy stated. “He suggested coming here, becuase ⁢he knew very well about the stunning Cremona club and city. After the possibility was there, so I decided to join.”

The move ⁤marks Vardy’s frist venture outside of ⁣English football. He is⁢ hoping to replicate the success he found with Leicester City, where he helped propel the ⁣club from‌ promotion contenders⁤ to Premier League champions in 2016. Maresca’s endorsement proved pivotal ⁣in convincing Vardy that Cremonese offered a viable platform to continue his career at the highest‍ level.
