Radhakrishnan pledged to dedicate his tenure to furthering the nation’s progress and advancement following his win over opposition candidate Margaret Alva.
The vice President’s role is constitutionally mandated to act as President in the latter’s absence, and also presides over the Rajya Sabha, wielding meaningful influence in legislative proceedings.
