New York,NY – January 26,2025 – As spring cleaning approaches,Consumer Reports has released its latest rankings of vacuum cleaner brands,emphasizing reliability as a key factor in consumer satisfaction. The analysis, based on data from nearly 136,000 Consumer Reports members, reveals wich brands are most likely too deliver lasting performance.
Consumer Reports’ vacuum ratings provide detailed performance and reliability assessments for individual models. When a specific model isn’t yet rated, consumers can consult brand scores to understand a manufacturer’s overall track record. These scores are statistically modeled, incorporating lab test results, member survey data on reliability and satisfaction, and price. Brands offering strong performance at lower price points receive a boost in their score.
Currently, Consumer Reports provides brand scores for stick and upright vacuums. To ensure accuracy, these scores are only calculated for brands wiht at least three models in current ratings. Brand scores are not yet available for canister, robotic, or handheld vacuums due to insufficient model numbers for a reliable analysis.For 2025, Consumer Reports prioritizes brands demonstrating above-average reliability. The organization explicitly excludes any brand receiving a subpar or abysmal reliability rating from its analysis, adhering to a policy of generally not recommending vacuums with reliability scores lower than midrange.
Within the stick vacuum category, brands specializing in lightweight models receive higher scores, reflecting the importance of portability for this type of vacuum. Upright vacuum scores prioritize models equipped with features like full-bag/bin indicators, HEPA filters, suction control, retractable cords, and easily accessible on/off switches.
