New Series ”Under Seasoned” Offers Intimate Look Inside Austin‘s Restaurant Scene
AUSTIN, TX – A new video series, Under Seasoned, is launching from the creators of the online channel Bless thy Kitchen, offering viewers a behind-the-scenes outlook on Austin’s diverse culinary landscape. The series will spotlight local restaurants, trucks, and chefs, exploring their stories and signature flavors through the lens of a home cook.Co-creators Justin Leyba and Adams met in film school and have collaborated on Bless Thy Kitchen videos featuring Adams cooking at home. Under Seasoned marks a shift, aiming to “feature and champion local spots and diverse stories/flavors through the home cook’s POV,” according to leyba.
The inaugural episode focuses on Ramen Del Barrio and it’s chef, Tyson Krinsky, known for his Mexican-Japanese fusion cuisine. krinsky, who recently hosted Food network’s Guy Fieri for a segment, described his approach as “respecting norms and traditions…the core elements of ramen,” while acknowledging his creations are “bastardized the crap out of it.” He emphasized that the core of ramen remains present in his dishes.
The Under Seasoned team was drawn to Krinsky’s unique vision, particularly his carnitas Tonkotsu ramen. Leyba noted Krinsky’s “personality was so infectious” and his willingness to share knowledge, extending beyond ramen to include fish butchery, knife sharpening, and business operations.
Currently, four Austin restaurants/trucks/chefs have committed to participate in the recurring series, with more expected to join as it progresses. The pilot episode, featuring Ramen Del Barrio, is now available on Bless Thy kitchen‘s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@BlessThyKitchen.
