Prior to entering the legal profession, Kang distinguished himself academically at the University of Toronto, earning degrees in both Computer science and Mathematics. His undergraduate research in numerical analysis and scientific computing was recognized with an NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award.
Kang’s commitment extends beyond his legal practice. He currently serves as Regional Governor (Canada) for the International Association of Korean Lawyers and previously led the Korean Canadian Lawyers Association as its President. He is also an active member of the Executive Committee for the Toronto Intellectual Property Group.
