Hen Film Sales: TIFF Premiere & International Distribution News

Toronto, ON – György Pálfi’s darkly comedic and unconventional feature, Hen, has secured a raft of international distribution deals ahead of its world premiere today in the Platform section of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Paris-based sales firm lucky Number closed pre-sales in Australia (Madman Entertainment), the Baltics (A-one Films Baltic), Benelux (Cineart), CIS (A-One Films), Ex-Yugoslavia (MCF), and Turkey (Bir Films). A deal was also negotiated between Neue Visionen and the producers for Germany.

Hen follows the extraordinary life of a chicken attempting to evade her predetermined fate, juxtaposed wiht an unfolding human tragedy. Pálfi, known for his provocative filmmaking, previously premiered Taxerdermia in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard in 2006 and Final Cut – Ladies & Gentleman in Cannes Classics in 2012.notably, the director worked extensively with live chickens to inform the film’s central performance.

The film is a co-production between Germany’s Pallas Film,Greece’s View Master Films,and Hungary’s Twenty Twenty Vision,with co-production support from Focusfox. Hen will also have its European premiere in the competitive Zabaltegi-Tabakalera section of the San Sebastian Film Festival.
