Lithuanian Photographer Rokas Darulis Unveils “Wild and Free” Project,Six Years in the Making
Vilnius,Lithuania - Photographer Rokas Darulis presented his six-year project,”Wild and Free,” to an intimate gathering of guests at the Tsekh Gallery in Vilnius on September 8,2025. The exhibition opening drew a crowd including Darulis’s fiancé and a number of prominent figures from Lithuania’s cultural scene.
The ”Wild and Free” project, evolving from a rock album of the same name, marks a significant moment for Darulis, who has achieved international acclaim in fashion photography while remaining connected to themes of youth, freedom, and the natural world. Curator Karolis Gužas highlighted the project’s role in extending a narrative begun by photographer Rimantas Dichavičius, bridging it with contemporary cultural contexts. The exhibition, open to the public until September 27th, offers a rare chance to experience Darulis’s work within Lithuania, after years spent contributing to publications like Vogue and campaigns for brands including Harrods, Net-a-porter, and Boucheron.
Born in Šiauliai, Darulis discovered his passion for photography as a teenager through his grandfather’s camera. He relocated to London in 2009, quickly establishing himself within the fashion industry, assisting photographers such as Ben Toms, Matt Irwin, and Willy Vanderperre.
“As a curator, it was very interesting for me to work with Rock to make this exhibition accessible to the Lithuanian audience,” Gužas stated. “I wanted to show that we have an artist who is on the international scene but is able to talk about topics, close to everyone’s youth, freedom and relationship with nature.”
Darulis himself expressed his ambition to secure distribution for the “Wild and Free” album and potentially showcase the project internationally. “I want to find distribution places for the album and in the future might potentially be transferred abroad. And later it will be time for peace and new inspiration,” he said.
