Shluchim Center Inaugurated in the Heart of Moscow
A new resource center for Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries (Shluchim) serving Russia adn the Former Soviet Union (FSU) has officially opened in Moscow’s Marina Roscha neighborhood. Located near the headquarters of the Federation of Jewish communities (FJC) and the offices of ‘Or Avner – Chabad,’ the “Misrad Hashluchim” (Shluchim Office) aims to provide professional support and a central hub for the growing network of Shluchim operating throughout the region.
The inauguration echoes the Rebbe’s directive in 5747 (1987) to establish a central gathering place for Shluchim in Crown Heights,New York, leading to the creation of the renowned Shluchim office there. This new Moscow center is intended to serve a similar function, offering a professional anchor for shluchim and their families working across Russia and the FSU.
A mezuzah-affixing ceremony marked the official opening, attended by Chief Rabbi of Russia and head Shliach, Rabbi Berel Lazar; the CEO of the federation of Jewish Communities, Rabbi Dovid Mondshine; and philanthropist Rabbi Yehuda Davidov, recognized for his dedication to supporting the needs of the Rebbe’s Shluchim.
The newly constructed complex boasts a range of amenities designed to facilitate the work and well-being of Shluchim. These include a comfortable lounge with rest and seating areas, fully equipped workstations, a conference room for meetings and collaboration, a dedicated children’s corner, computers providing access to online learning resources for Shluchim’s children, a guest apartment for visiting emissaries, and a coffee bar offering hot and cold beverages.
The Federation of Jewish Communities, under the leadership of Rabbi Lazar, coordinated the project, building upon its existing array of services for Shluchim in the FSU. The project’s successful completion was attributed to the exceptional dedication of Mrs. Sarah Chana Mondshine and Mrs. Shterna Sarah Mondshine.
The center is slated to begin regular operations immediately, serving as a vital resource for all Shluchim traveling to Moscow and functioning as a central location for meetings, training sessions, and professional workshops aimed at strengthening and expanding Jewish activity throughout the FSU.
