Israeli Military Faces Mounting Concerns Over hostage Safety & Slow Gaza Exodus
Gaza Strip – The Israeli military is increasingly worried about the safety of hostages held by Hamas, and the slow pace of civilian evacuation from Gaza City is hindering operational plans, according too a report in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
The report highlights growing fears within Israeli intelligence that hostages could be unintentionally killed during ongoing military operations.Officials acknowledge the impossibility of guaranteeing the prisoners’ safety amidst intensified airstrikes, recalling a similar incident in Rafah approximately a year ago.
The slow exodus of Palestinian civilians from Gaza is further complicating matters, delaying the implementation of the army’s strategic objectives and escalating the scope of its operations. Preliminary estimates suggest that less than 10% of the approximately one million people previously in Gaza and its surrounding areas have been displaced south.
Adding to the challenges, the Israeli military is also warning of critical limitations within its regular units and is communicating thes concerns directly to the families of the kidnapped individuals.
