Ahmad Sahroni, a North Jakarta politician, stated he will not pursue legal action against individuals who returned stolen items following the ransacking of his residence on Saturday, August 30th. Despite significant losses including a Richard Mille watch, designer handbags, and an Iron Man statue, Sahroni has opted for reconciliation with those who voluntarily surrendered the looted goods. The incident, which involved a mass entry and subsequent looting at Sahroni’s home, is currently under inquiry by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police and the North Jakarta Metro Police. Authorities facilitated the return of items previously taken from the property, acknowledging them as private property of Ahmad Sahroni. The decision not to press charges against those returning stolen items reflects Sahroni’s desire to move forward, even as the broader investigation into the incident continues.
“These items were previously private property Ahmad Sahroni who had been looted by the community during the incident at his home,” explained Ipda Maryati Jonggi, Head of Public Relations for the North Jakarta Metro police. The police continue to investigate the full scope of the looting and are processing surrendered items as evidence.
