Huawei Unveils Mate XTS Ultimate Design, Second in trilogy of Foldable Phones
[City, Date] – Huawei has announced the release of the Mate XTS Ultimate Design, the second generation in its line of foldable smartphones. The new device maintains the same dimensions and weight as its predecessor while introducing notable upgrades to its display, hinge, camera system, and processing power.
The Mate XTS Ultimate Design boasts a multi-form factor screen, transitioning from a 6.4-inch FHD+ display in its folded state, to 7.9 inches with 2K resolution in mid-fold, and expanding to a full 10.2-inch 3K screen when fully opened. Huawei’s proprietary COE Pixel technology is implemented to improve energy efficiency, reducing consumption by approximately 13%. The device also supports the M-PEN 3 for writing and navigation, accessible via a dedicated side button.
A redesigned hinge contributes to a slimmer profile and increased durability. Huawei reports a 23% increase in exterior joint hardness and a 16% improvement in interior joint strength. Screen shock resistance has been enhanced by 30% through a flexible design incorporating eight insulating layers and the use of aerospace-grade steel.
Powering the Mate XTS Ultimate Design is the Kirin 9020 processor, developed in-house by Huawei. The company claims this new chip delivers a 36% performance boost over the previous generation Kirin 9000.
The phone’s camera system retains the XMAAGE Imaging system and features a 50-megapixel main camera with a variable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0, a 12-megapixel periscope camera offering up to 5.5x optical zoom, and an 8-megapixel internal camera. The ultra-wide camera has been upgraded to 40 megapixels, supporting macro photography down to 2.5cm, alongside a 1.5-megapixel color sensor.
The Mate XTS Ultimate design is equipped with a 5600 mAh battery utilizing carbon silicone technology, supporting 66W wired fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and wireless reverse charging capabilities.
