Alan Ritchson to Star in Amazon MGM Studios Film About Navy SEAL Mike Thornton
Alan Ritchson is set to lead an upcoming Amazon MGM Studios movie centered on the heroic story of Navy SEAL Mike thornton during the Vietnam War. The film will depict Thornton’s actions during the final days of the conflict, when he led a desperate effort to rescue five men trapped behind enemy lines in North Vietnam.
Outnumbered by approximately 150 soldiers, Thornton and his team faced relentless enemy fire during a harrowing retreat into the South China Sea. Thornton then swam for hours, pulling a gravely wounded lieutenant and fellow soldier to safety, an act of valor that earned him the Congressional Medal of Honor.The project reunites Ritchson with director Patrick Hughes, following their recent collaboration on Netflix’s sci-fi adventure War Machine. The script is co-written by Mark Semos, Alan Ritchson, and Jason Hall, whose previous credits include American Sniper and Thank You For Your Service.

the film falls under ritchson’s three-picture acting deal with Amazon MGM Studios.Ritchson currently stars in and executive produces the fourth season of Reacher for prime Video, wich recently became the platform’s most-watched returning season with 54.6 million global viewers in its first 19 days. He also executive produced Motor City, premiering at TIFF following its Venice debut, and has completed production on The Runner with Owen Wilson, Playdate with Kevin James, and The Man With The bag with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Ritchson will also reprise his role in the upcoming 11th installment of the Fast and Furious franchise.
