Huawei Unveils New Tri-Fold Phone with Innovative Design

Huawei Launches Second-Generation Foldable Phone, the Mate ⁤XTS,⁣ Priced at $2,500

DUBAI, UAE – Huawei has released‍ the second generation of it’s three-fold phone, ‌the Mate XTS, priced at approximately $2,500, signaling a‌ renewed⁢ push for innovation despite ongoing US ⁣sanctions. The launch comes as⁢ the company seeks to regain market share lost after restrictions hampered‌ its ‍access to key software and‍ chips in 2020.According ⁣to data from​ IDC,‍ Huawei sold 470,000 units of the original ⁣Mate XT, generating revenues exceeding $1.3 billion. Francisco Gironimo, Vice-head of IDC, told CNBC, “The performance is very⁢ strong, given that it is among the most expensive smartphones in the market, and this proves the existence of a demand for‌ innovation.” The⁢ Mate XTS represents ‍Huawei’s latest attempt to⁤ demonstrate⁣ its continued technological capabilities, notably ‍in a competitive foldable phone market.

The Mate XTS will operate on Harmony OS 5.1,the latest version of ⁤Huawei’s proprietary operating system. Marketed⁤ as a​ productivity-focused device, it features desktop-level applications optimized ‍for⁣ its triple-fold screen, allowing ‌users to⁣ manage windows ⁣and screen size similar to a personal⁢ computer.

Huawei is ​offering⁢ incentives⁣ to attract‌ consumers,including a discount⁢ of over 50%⁤ on screen replacements and two complimentary at-home or ⁢user-selected ⁢location maintenance services. The phone will be available ‌in four colors and⁢ boasts a 5600 mAh battery, a‌ relatively large capacity compared to current market‍ offerings.

Despite these advancements, Huawei’s‍ market share remains limited outside of China due to ​ongoing obstacles. The company has ‌been developing its own operating system and manufacturing ‍chips within China⁣ to mitigate the impact of US sanctions, allowing for a gradual return ‍to the market.
