Samsung‘s Lee Dae-sung Revitalizes Knee Rehab with Unique Open-Air Bath Training
nagoya, japan - Seoul Samsung Thunders guard Lee Dae-sung is making significant strides in his recovery from a ruptured cruciate ligament, utilizing an unconventional training method during the team’s off-season camp in Nagoya, Japan.Samsung manager Kim Hyo-beom observed Lee strengthening his muscles alone in the open-air bath at the team’s hotel in sakah, central Nagoya.
Lee, who returned to the KBL after a stint in Japan’s B League, suffered the injury during off-season training prior to the 2024-2025 season. He has as dedicated himself to rehabilitation and is currently estimated to be at approximately 80% physical condition, according to Coach Kim.
The player has also undergone a significant physical conversion, losing 8 kilograms and reducing his body fat to 7-8%. Lee acknowledged the importance of careful preparation, noting a previous experience where maintaining a similar body fat percentage of 7% led to a lack of strength during the season. He is adjusting his physique to ensure sustained performance.
During training games in Nagoya against teams including Nagoya FE and Sanen Neopinix – last season’s B-League regular season winner - Lee demonstrated a return to form, showcasing his mid-jumper and chemistry with teammates. He successfully navigated the intense defensive pressure of Sanen, comparable to or exceeding that of top KBL teams like Changwon LG, Daegu Gas Corporation, and Seoul SK.
Samsung’s revamped roster and solidified offensive/defensive structure are expected to benefit from Lee’s return alongside andrew Nicholson.
