Marseille Knife Attack: Tunisian Man Killed by Police

Marseille, France – September 2, 2025 – A knife attack in Marseille left multiple people wounded today, culminating in the fatal shooting of the Tunisian suspect by police. The incident unfolded across multiple locations in the city, prompting a ⁢large-scale‍ emergency response and a national anti-terrorist prosecution (PNAT) observation.

The attacker, identified ⁣as 35-year-old Abdelkader ‌D., a Tunisian national with a ⁣valid residence card until February 23, 2032, initially attacked the manager and son of a hotel after being expelled for non-payment. He then ​extended the violence to a hotel customer, inflicting more serious ⁤injuries, and subsequently attacked two pedestrians on the Belsunce course. Witnesses reported the suspect may have shouted‌ “Allah Akbar” during the attacks.Police deployed an electrical pulse pistol (PIE) after the suspect refused to comply with orders, ultimately resulting ⁢in his death from sustained injuries.

According to Public Prosecutor of Marseille Nicolas Bessonne, the‌ incident was a “criminal⁤ journey” during which⁣ the ‌suspect appeared to be acting “blindly⁢ and‌ freely,” attempting ⁤to harm individuals. the suspect was known to judicial and territorial intelligence services for “unstable⁢ behavior with violent potential.” ‌

Emergency​ services transported several victims to ⁢hospitals, some in critical condition. The area was secured, and a formal inquiry has been launched ‍by the PJ (Police Judiciaire). interior Minister Bruno Retailleau visited the ‍scene, reiterating the government’s commitment to “get control of migratory ⁢flows” and praising the police’s response.
