Tokyo: South Korean Man Arrested for Killing Girlfriend

South Korean man ⁤Detained in⁤ Tokyo Over Alleged Murder ​of Girlfriend

TOKYO – A south Korean⁢ man, ​Park Yongjun, has ⁤been detained at Haneda ⁢Airport in ‌connection with the death of his girlfriend, Bang Ji ⁣Won, in ‌Tokyo’s Setagaya ward⁢ on ​September 1st.Ms. Bang,⁢ 40, died after being found with her throat slashed on a street ⁤at approximately 1:35 pm local time.

Police responded⁤ to ‌an emergency call from a bystander​ reporting a bloodied woman who ⁢had collapsed, and a man fleeing the scene. Ms.‍ Bang was ⁣transported ⁣to a hospital⁤ unconscious and later pronounced dead.

Investigators say Ms. ​Bang had ‍previously ⁤sought police assistance on August 29th, reporting she had been assaulted by Park after ⁤informing him she wished to end their relationship. Officers advised her to stay with an acquaintance and ‍instructed Park,‌ who arrived in Tokyo earlier in August, to avoid contact with⁢ her.

Police observed Park near Ms. Bang’s residence on August 30th ‍and warned him against attempting to contact her. They escorted him‍ to Haneda Airport,as he⁣ possessed a plane ⁣ticket to South Korea,but lost track of⁤ his ​movements afterward.

The incident occurred in a residential area⁢ roughly⁤ 500 meters northeast of Komazawa⁢ University ‍station on the Tokyu Den-en-toshi line. Park is currently refusing to ‍answer questions ⁢regarding ⁤the alleged murder.

The case ⁤has⁣ drawn attention to crimes against ​women and domestic violence.
