Indiana Lottery: Group of 5 Women Win $9.9 Million Jackpot

INDIANAPOLIS – A long-held dream became reality for five Indiana women who claimed a $9.9 million Hoosier Lotto jackpot on Monday, August 21, after playing together for 11 years.

Milly, Tony, Kendra, Jenny, and Roxanne collected their winnings at the Hoosier Lottery Prize Payment Office in Indianapolis. The winning ticket, purchased at Jack’s Place in Columbus, Indiana, matched all six numbers drawn on August 16: 1-21-26-31-33-34.

The group chose the cash option, receiving a lump sum of $4,682,171 before taxes, which will be divided equally among them.

Milly, who documents her lottery experiences on her YouTube channel, “Oldladyscratcher,” coordinates ticket purchases and shares images with the group via Facebook Messenger. It was while posting a photo of the winning ticket that she realized the magnitude of their win. “OMG! everyone, we hit it. We won!” she reportedly messaged her fellow lottery pool members.

“The fact a group of longtime friends and co-workers from the Columbus-area have won this jackpot together adds an extra layer of excitement,” said Hoosier Lottery executive director Sarah M. Taylor.

The women plan to use their winnings to purchase new cars, homes, and bolster their savings. Jack’s Place will receive nearly $100,000 from the Hoosier Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
