BOSTON, MA – July 26, 2024 – The Free Software Foundation (FSF) today announced the launch of the #FSF40Photos contest, inviting free software users worldwide to showcase their daily experiences with libre software. The contest, running until August 31, 2025, aims to highlight the diverse and creative ways individuals rely on free software in their lives.
The FSF is encouraging participants to submit photos illustrating how they use free software – from everyday tasks to specialized projects. The organization emphasizes that submissions should demonstrate the practical request of free software, and welcomes innovative and unique examples.
“We want to see how you’re using free software to empower yourselves and your communities,” the FSF states in its contest announcement. “There are countless ways to involve libre software every day, and we’re excited to see what you come up with.”
Following the August 31, 2025 deadline, a public voting period will determine the winners. Prizes will be awarded to the top three submissions: a grand prize winner will receive an FSF40 T-shirt, the second-place winner will receive a “Fight for your user rights” bag, and the third-place winner will receive a free software sticker pack.
