Tarleton State Football: Recent Success & Upcoming Information
Tarleton State University’s football team is coming off a dominant 42-0 road victory against Portland State on Saturday. This marked the program’s largest season-opening win since 2002,when they won 62-0. The shutout was Portland State’s first in FCS play as 2006 and their first at home since 2003. Notably, Tarleton State achieved the first shutout in a week 0 FCS game since the introduction of Week 0 as a regular start to the season in 2014, and their first road shutout since 2009.
The team recently completed a important travel stretch, covering almost 5,700 miles over seven days with games in Hillsboro, Oregon (nearly 4,000 miles roundtrip) and West Point, New York (nearly 1,700 miles).

Fans can hear from Head Coach Todd Whitten on “The Todd Whitten Show,” which will continue with its second edition this Wednesday at 12 p.m. live from Triple Crowd Ford. Cicis pizza will be provided free to attendees. Starting September 4th, the show will move to Thursdays (excluding bye weeks). The 30-minute broadcast will originate from the lobby of Triple Crown Ford, located at 2975 W. Washington St. in stephenville, and will air on KTRL 90.5 FM, the flagship station of Tarleton State Athletics, as well as online at TarletonSports.com/Watch.
