Her first self-reliant holiday came after completing her GCSEs, a week-long trip to Mykonos with four friends, gifted by her father. The trip involved travel on her father’s boat, and she recounts a memorable, if slightly painful, experience of sleeping on deck and suffering severe sunburn.
