MLB Home Run Derby X too Debut in Oklahoma City Saturday

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – August 23, 2024 – A new, fast-paced take on the classic home run derby is coming to Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark this Saturday, as MLB Home Run Derby X makes its Oklahoma City debut. The three-on-three co-ed competition, which began in 2022, features a unique blend of power hitting and defensive play.
The event will showcase a star-studded lineup including World Series champion Nick Swisher, Silver Slugger-winner Adrián González, and a host of University of Oklahoma softball legends: Jacelyn Alo, Tiare Jennings, Kinzie Hanson, Amanda Lorenz, Kasidi Pickering, Ella Parker, and Reese Atwood.
How Home Run Derby X Works
each game lasts 30 minutes, with each player receiving an at-bat of 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Opposing teams will field players in the outfield to attempt catches.Points are awarded for home runs, with bonus points given for hitting home runs through a designated target in center field. Teams also score points for successful catches.
Road to the Championship
The Home Run derby X tour is making stops in six cities, with the winning team from each location, plus two wild card teams, advancing to the championship final on September 19-20 at The ballpark of America First Square in south Jordan, Utah. The winning team will take home a $200,000 prize.
This event is structured with four teams per city, each led by an MLB legend and a female player from softball or women’s baseball.
