Inter Milan Defeats AS Monaco 2-1 in Pre-Season Pleasant Despite early Red Card

Monaco, Principality of Monaco – Inter Milan secured a 2-1 victory over AS Monaco in a pre-season friendly match held at the Stade Louis II on Saturday, August 9, 2025. The win came despite Inter playing with ten men for over half the match following a red card issued to Hakan Çalhanoğlu.

AS Monaco took an early led in the 2nd minute with a goal from Maghnes Akliouche, assisted by Adi Huetter. However, Inter Milan responded strongly despite being a man down. Hakan Çalhanoğlu received a direct red card in the 36th minute, forcing Inter to adjust their strategy.

Lautaro Martínez leveled the score in the 60th minute, bringing the match to 1-1.The Argentine forward capitalized on a well-built attack, demonstrating Inter’s resilience. Ange-Yoan Bonny then secured the win for Inter in the 80th minute, finishing a play that highlighted the team’s attacking prowess.

This match serves as crucial preparation for Inter Milan as they gear up for the upcoming Serie A season, where they are aiming to defend their title. The friendly also provided valuable playing time for new signings and allowed coach Christian Chivu to experiment with different formations.
