Guangdong-Hong Kong Games Carnival Launches with Youth Engagement

Guangzhou, August 4, 2025 – The “2025 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Youth Entrepreneurship Competition” officially launched today at GO PARK in Guangzhou, marking a meaningful step in fostering innovation and collaboration among young entrepreneurs across the region.The event, supported by key governmental bodies and private sector sponsorship, aims to identify and nurture promising startups within the Greater Bay Area.

The competition receives strong backing from the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, with specific support from the Guangdong Competition Area Liaison Department of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Department. Further endorsement comes from the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). Sun Hung Kai Properties is providing venue sponsorship for the event.

Background: The Greater bay Area Initiative

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) is a Chinese government initiative designed to integrate nine cities in Guangdong province – Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Huizhou, and Zhaoqing – with the two special administrative regions of Hong Kong and macao. the GBA aims to create a world-class city cluster and a global hub for innovation, finance, and trade.

Youth entrepreneurship is a key pillar of the GBA’s development strategy. The competition seeks to capitalize on the region’s unique advantages – a robust manufacturing base in Guangdong, a leading financial center in hong kong, and a tourism and service-oriented economy in Macao – to create a dynamic ecosystem for startups. The initiative aligns with China’s broader goals of promoting technological innovation and economic diversification.

Competition Details

The competition is open to young entrepreneurs aged 18-35 with innovative business ideas across various sectors, including technology, biotechnology, new materials, and cultural creativity. Participants will compete in preliminary rounds, followed by a final pitch to a panel of judges comprised of venture capitalists, industry experts, and government officials. Prizes will include seed funding, mentorship programs, and access to incubation facilities.

GO PARK, located in the Tianhe District of Guangzhou, was selected as the venue due to its strategic location and modern facilities. Sun hung Kai Properties, a leading property developer in Hong Kong, has a significant presence in the GBA and is committed to supporting initiatives that promote economic growth and innovation.
