Orioles Acquire Pitching Prospect Juaron Watts-Brown from Blue Jays in Exchange for seranthony Domínguez

The Baltimore Orioles have traded relief pitcher Seranthony Domínguez to the Toronto Blue Jays. In return, the Orioles received 23-year-old right-handed pitcher Juaron Watts-Brown. watts-Brown has been pitching as a starter for Toronto’s Double-A affiliate.

This move follows an earlier transaction on July 25th, where the Orioles traded pitcher Gregory soto to the New York Mets for two pitching prospects, Wellington Aracena adn Cameron Foster. Soto, acquired by the Orioles a year prior for two pitching prospects, posted a 4.33 ERA during his tenure with Baltimore.the Orioles received Aracena, a 20-year-old Low-A prospect known for high strikeout rates but also high walk rates, and Foster, a 26-year-old reliever in his frist year of a conversion to relief pitching.

Watts-Brown is described as having a “projectable frame,” suggesting potential for increased velocity and strength. He was ranked as the #10 prospect in the Blue Jays system by MLB Pipeline and is expected to be a significant addition to the Orioles’ prospect rankings. The Orioles’ Double-A rotation is anticipated to be a focal point for observation throughout the remainder of the season.
