Maher Admits He Was Wrong About Trump’s Tariffs and Economy

Liberal comedian Bill Maher has acknowledged a shift in his perspective regarding President Donald TrumpS tariff policies, admitting he was “dead wrong” on the issue.

Maher, host of the “Club Random” podcast, previously questioned the rationale behind Trump’s focus on bringing back manufacturing, suggesting it was an outdated concept. In March, he remarked on his “Real Time” show, “Why do we want too bring back manufacturing? It’s so 70s, you know? I mean, that ship has sailed. You know, there are countries that make jeans for $11. We’re never going to be that country again.” he also expressed skepticism about the job creation aspect, stating,”China’s moving into the AI age,and he wants to go back to manufacturing, which,by the way,if you create new jobs, who’s going to take them? Robots. That’s who’s going to take them anyway! He acts like progress itself is woke.”

President Trump has implemented a series of tariffs on various countries since taking office, with the stated goal of rectifying trade imbalances he characterized as disadvantageous to the United States. This strategy has involved imposing tariffs on goods from nations worldwide.

In a development aimed at de-escalating trade tensions, Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced a trade agreement between the U.S. and the European Union. This deal included the implementation of a 15 percent tariff on a majority of EU goods imported into the United States.
